Hey all, I''m using a US robotics wireless router, and I want to connect a HP Color Laserjet 1600 to it for use as a network printer. I followed the directions from the USR website carefully (http://www.usr.com/support/5461/5461-files/printer_installation/index.html) and when I get to step #10 the wizard pops up an error saying "Windows cannot connect to the printer..." what am I doing wrong?

scrap those guidelines, i personally think they are pretty poor. surely the HP printer allows you to set a static IP address? if this is the case, setup a static ip address on the printer with an address of your network, then just add a printer using TCPIP port. also make sure port 9100 is enabled on the printer, as we had an awful time in work recently. got two new printers, set them up completely 100% the same, one worked, other wouldnt. both would ping, telnet, you name it, except one wouldnt print. both exactly the same, wrecked our brains, could not figure out what was going.... turned out... one had port 9100 disabled out of the box, the other didnt. very poor hp, the more i use hp, the more i do not like them! however,try what i suggested and that should get you going, from looking at the guidelines, you are technically "sharing" the printer off the router, as opposed to having the printer as a separate entity on your lan... if that makes sense!
