Ok, here it goes.
I got my queries straightened out and they return the data I want in the format I want(finally). The data are sorted alpha. descending by ProjectName. Each project has a unique ProjectID, which is the left-most field. Sorting by ProjectName means that the ProjectID field is not in numerical order.

The boss wants to have an ordinal number field called something like ''ItemNumber'' and is simply

How can I go about this? Can I make the Query generate such a field? Is it something that I can do in the Report? The only place it MUST be is in the Report, but there is no problem if it is in the query as well.

I couldn''t get it to work properly for me (the function will continue to increment if you navigate around in the query), but it may get you headed in the right direction. I may mess with it later if I have time.
