A "good reason for using sql server database" does not exists!
ASP.NET gives you flexibility in how you connect to databases[^]. There's a lot of .net providers[^] which can handle almost each database engine. You can use Oracle database, but you have to download and install Oracle database framework[^], because OracleClient "drivers" provided by MS are deprecated[^].
