I am using VS2012 for the application that i am currently busy with, it connect to a database that was created in SQL 2000 , so every time i try to modify my datasets i get an error "FAILED TO OPEN CONNECTION TO THE DATABASE , "tHIS SERVER VERSION IS NOT SUPPORTED, you must have Microsoft QSL 2005 or late", i dont have SQL 2000 i only have SQL 2012, can someone help as to how i can solve this.

SQL2000 does not support updates from visual studio. This was a feature added in sql2005 and later. If the database is running in sql2000 compatibility, then you will need to migrate to a later version.

Don't worry. The process is pretty simple and completely safe, especially as one of the steps is to take a full backup.

You can migrate from 2000 to 2005 or 2008, but not directly to 2012. You have to migrate to either 2005 or 2008 first, but you may not even need to go all the way to 2012 (although I suggest you do)
