One fact that a lot people don't recognize about WordPress is that all content created are actually POST types. The following are examples:

POSTS (Blog Posts) are created for unique content, such as articles, reviews, opinions. You can categorize them and archive them.

PAGES are actually a special POST type in WordPress. They are commonly used for creating content that doesn't change that much, like "About Us", "Contact Us", "Our Blog", and so on. They are good for assigning primary menu navigation for because WordPress provides a feature to do that.

There can also be custom POST TYPES, like FAQ, PORTFOLIO, and a number of other special ones that have unique needs and requirements. Woocommerce, a popular e-commerce plugin, uses a custom post type called "PRODUCTS" which contain special fields of information you wouldn't find in a page or a normal post.
