I'm a new beginner for the Thesis and my Module Thesis: "Transfer Back-up Files over the network on different machine." I'm not comfortable with my advisory so that i need your greatest advice for me :)

We can't even tell you what language to use, as we have no idea what languages you know, or will work in the environment you are going to be working in - and they are a lot, lot more important than "what's best for moving files?"

If you're using any language and multiple OS's are to be supported, I'd use a higher level scripting language for this type of thing. I use a combination of Perl/SSH for this very thing already. Why Perl? Why not? ...but it would be easy enough to do with any other scripting language as well. Reason for using scripts is that it's very easy to do file handling and sockets with them already, so it's not a big deal. Plus you have the advantage that the scripts will be cross-platform, so it doesn't even matter if you're backing up to the same OS.
