I have a situation where the on-prem Hyper-V VM  was broken. This was done on Sunday, 14 April at 11AM. The only restore points I can see in the ASR web UI are from after that point. Failing over a bit for bit copy of a broken state VM will not help me. Ideally I would like to restore to a point on 13 April, but I don't see any restore points before 14 April at 1:42 PM (after the act was committed).

Can anyone help me find a way to restore to an earlier recovery point, please?

The recovery point retention field that you chose in the replication policy dictates how long the Point In Times (the point to which you can failover to) are available, as long as new points are getting generated. In case new points are not getting generated due to some replication issues – which is the case as you mentioned above, we will keep those points – how many is defined by the Copy frequency & App-consistent snapshot frequency that you chose. But, as mentioned above, if your  system got resolved of further issues, and we were generating new points, the old one are deleted based on your recovery point retention value. The specific need you have to go back to previous point in time outside of the retention windows is more of a backup use case.  

I understand it doesn’t necessarily solve your concern at this point, but this is by design, and optimized for DR use case – with focus on minimizing downtime (RTO) and minimal data loss (RPO).
