Azure API Management is currently deployed inside the virtual network (VNET), so it can access our onpremise backend services within the network. We are not using Express Route. 

We see no performance issues for smaller payloads.  We tried with 1 MB response payload the performance drops significantly while running the API using 5  concurrent threads. Azure APIM starts timing out then it becomes unavailable (crashes) for after time while doing some load testing.  

Does anyone uses large payload using Azure APIM ?
