Someone handed me an application that was written in C# connected to an SQL Server database. This application can upload files to the database like images and pdf's. This app has been in production for less than a year now and it gets slower every single day because of the number of files uploaded to the server. Database size is nearly 3GB now and it really frustrates me.

I would love to hear your opinion on how can we deal with this issue. By the way, our server is just a second gen intel core i7 with 8GB of Ram and an SSD.
