When I try to create a new database and specify where I want it created, I get the following error: Errors related to feature availability and configuration: The 'Database storage location' feature is not included in the '64 Bit Standard Edition' SKU.

Am I doing something wrong or do I really have to spring for the enterprise edition just to specify database location?

This functionality is part of the new Scalability Features. And yes, it’s only in the Enterprise edition.
