您可以使用SharePoint向导断开与当前SQL Server的连接，然后使用新的SQL Server配置新的SharePoint场。

During the installation wizard, it failed to create the configuration database.  I figured because I used the express version of sql and it's not supported by sharepoint 2016.

Here the error log for the installation failed:

So, I just build a new sql server 2014.  I want to have the sharepoint pick up from where it failed with the new sql server, how can i do that if not uninstall and reinstall the sharepoint?

Hi

You can use SharePoint Wizard to disconnect from current SQL server and then configure new SharePoint farm with new SQL server.
