We are able to do index on an Modified column both manually and programmatically on each contentType.

We want to understand is there a way we can do indexing globally at admin/Site collection level so that is applied to all contentTypes and need not do this activity for each item.

Hi,

The content type defines the attributes of a list item, a document, or a folder. We can associate a content type with a list or library. Libraries and lists can contain multiple content types. Learn more about Content Types.

The Modified column does not exist in the content type. It is a general column and exists in each list/library. I think your "contentType" means the SharePoint list/library.

One the list column as be setup as the index column and the index column can only be configured in the lists and libraries. You need to retrieve and iterate all lists and libraries from the site, and add an index to Modified column for each list/library programmatically.
