I'm running a few tests through Visual Studio over my cubes (a tabular database with compatibility level 1200) in a testing environment. Now I would like to run them locally, kind of an integration test.

So if you are using this for local integration testing and no one else needs to access this instance then it should be fine to use a local developer instance. I believe that you can use the developer edition for any non-production uses.
