I've a running Tabular Project in Visual Studio 2017, DirectQuery is Off. I'm trying to enable the DirectQuery and deploy the model to AAS. Unfortunatelly VS throws me an error:

We are running AAS Standard S0 Tier. So the DirectQuery Mode should work for us.

The strange part is: I can deploy the project with DirectQuery Off (just deploy metadata, without processing). Then I open SSMS and connect to my AAS Database. From there I can change the Default Mode from Import to DirectQuery, and it seems to work, because Database was not processed and I can browse the data.

Any idea why I cannot change the mode directly in Visual Studio?
