Currently I am running Windows 7 / Microsoft Office 2010 / Visual Studio 2010 and have VS Team Explorer 2010 Add-In loaded.

When I attempt to open a query in VS with Microsoft Excel I am getting this error:

 

Team Foundation Error - Interface not registered (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040155

 

I have ran repairs on all of the following:

               MS VS 2010 Tools for Office Runtime (x64)

               MS .Net Framework 4 Multi-Targeting Pack

               MS .Net Framework 4 Extended

               MS .Net Framework 4 Client Profile

               MS VS Team Explorer 2010

               MS VS 2010 Tools for Office Runtime (x62)

               MS Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate

With the additional reboots for good measure and I continue to get the error.

I can open MS Project or Excel and use the Team Explorer to access my query and pull down data and push data into VSTS without issue so that eliminates any potential that the problem resides with my Office software.

Thus I uninstalled all components and VS 2010 Ultimate did a reboot and reinstalled it fresh.

However I continue to get the same error.

I had a similar issue. Repairing Office 2010 resolved my issue.
