I'm new to Search Server and looking into Search Server for my company's website. We don't have MOSS. Our content is in different places. There are some pdf files, word files, asp/aspx files, data in CS 2002 database, SQL Server 2000 & 2005 database and documentum repository. Do I need MOSS for implementing Search Server? or can I search in the sql databases using federated search connector? How can I get content from documentum repository? It'll be great if you can provide me some more information.

Search Server does not require MOSS. There are two ways to connect Search Server to your content.
