We're currently trying to use the Client SDK as a workaround for UCMA not being able to connect to Lync Online directly (without a hybrid setup), because this is a really important scenario for us, and we want to offer at least some minimal functionality for our customers.

The client is running in suppressed mode and we're able to send IMs and receive replies on that conversation.

What doesn't work is the following: When receiving and accepting an incoming IM call, the InstantMessageReceived event of the modality never triggers for the initial message that started the call. There also doesn't seem to be a way to access the text/content of that message in any other way than the event itself.

Is there a workaround for that or is it just not possible, which would be bad news for us, because most of the IM calls we will receive consist of just that one first message.
