I would really appreciate if anyone could provide some guidance,

We have a Project Online setup and there are multiple projects with each having one Project Owner, the project owner has setup the project added resources and notifications setup and the PM has to change ownership and I was able to change the ownership to a new PM but the Notifications are still going to the old PM.

How does Project Online determine where to send and which setting it uses when we have email me and my team members is it the Project Owner or PM's in the Owner group for that project

You would need to change the status manager against tasks inside Project Plan for notifications against tasks to go to new owner.

If you change name only at project owner field, it will change notifications routing only limited to project workflows (if any).
