We have a simple application on our Intranet that presents Word documents and Wxcel spreadsheets held in the file store as a list of icons.

With Windows 7 / IE 9 If you:

1. Click on the icon for a Word document using IE, it correctly downloads and opens that document in Word.
2. Update the doument in the filestore by directly accessing the Document in the filestore
3. Re-load the intranet page and re-click on the icon, it opens an OLD version of the document (presumably from the IE cache)
4. Close and reopen IE and you get the NEW version of the document, as expected.
5. Interestingly, EXCEL documents appear not to be cached and IE will always open the NEW version

However with Windows 8 / IE 10, with the Word document, the only way you can open the NEW version is to manually clear the cache in IE. Furthermore, the cached version does not appear to time out so you are still accessing the old version many days after the change.

As we use this system to support our quality registration, it is imperative, people always see the latest version of a document, downloaded from the server, rather than a possibly out-of-date cached copy.

Please could somebody advise on how I can prevent IE from caching Word documents (i.e. as per Excel) or to correct the problem with IE10
