Refer to following article which explains non-Euclidean geometry distance calculations on a spherical object.

Latitude and longitude specify points on a sphere, relative to other features: the equator in the case of latitude, and Greenwich in the case of longitude.
There is no "fixed reference point" for you to use as a basis of a distance so you can't just "convert them to metres" - even if you postulated the reference point as "the intersection of the Greenwich meridian with the equator", would that be "a straight line from the reference point to the Lat and Long"? Or the Great Circle distance? Or what?

It doesn't make sense. You can establish a "distance" in metres between two Lat & Long values, but even then, there are various ways that that distance could be calculated.

I think you need to consider your project a little more carefully, and work out exactly what you are trying to achieve before going any further - because I don't think you have fully considered what you are trying to do! :laugh:
