Started setting up the developer environment for Windows Phone and ran into a couple of problems. I'm wondering if someone has a work around for me...

First I tried to install WPSDK 8.0 on my Windows 7 machine and was told that I did not have the latest .NET 4.5 version. I tried to install that and got a message that it was only supported on Windows 8.

I then tried a Windows 8 CP virtual machine. Can't remember the error message I got but that did not work.

Next I tried my Windows 8 Pro machine and got a message that the machine did not support virtualization so the emulator would not run. I'm not sure if this is a show stopper.

I would most like to work on my Win 7 machine - is there any way to do this?

Sorry you can not run the windows phone 8 sdk on a windows 7 machine.  You will need windows 8 pro for this.   I believe you can still debug windows phone 8 apps on a wp8 device if your machines does not meet the virtualization requirements
