解决方案

Once the site is installed, what is the best way of reloading the style sheets?

We had to make last minute changes in the DefaultSite.css file and we have copied the new file on :

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\12\TEMPLATE\FEATURES\CommerceServerDefaultSiteStyles\Styles

What is the next step?

In development environment we used Share Point Designer; but, this is not available on the other servers. Is it other way of reloading the style sheets?

Placing the file in the above directory does nothing more then replacing the original definition  of the defaultSite.css. for use in Sharepoint designer "reset to site definition". The actual css is stored in the sharepoint database.

So you can either

1. re-deploy the site.

2. On the admin store site goto http://adminstore:someport/Style%20Library/Forms/AllItems.aspx, and replace the defaultSite.css.

Even after replacing the defaultsite.css you may find that clients will still not pick up the change. Browsers have a habit of caching .css and .js. I like to add version paramter to my js and css reference to ensure the browser will get the version I want ie defaultsite.css?v=1.0.2
