Hi, we are currently working to test the upgrade of our existing TFS2008 setup to TFS2010.  This is an in place upgrade.

We have run the KB2135068 check scripts (from http://blogs.msdn.com/b/bharry/archive/2010/06/25/tfs-2010-upgrade-issue.aspx) for 2008 on our existing setup, and these return true for both labels and history items.  We are using the latest available version of the TFS2010 installer which includes the hotfix for KB2135068 to do the upgrade, and are also installing TFS2010 SP1 before the upgrade of the TFS2008 collection.

On the TFS2008 system the check scripts return 8 rows from the Labels2008.sql script, and 110227 rows from the MergeHistory2008WithResults.sql script. 

When the upgrade has been completed on the test environment the Labels2010.sql script returns all clear with zero rows.  The MergeHistory2010.sql script however returns 68 rows which are still regarded as having an issue.

Is it possible that we have some issues with Merge History that are not being resolved during the upgrade via KB2135068?  We are keen to complete the upgrade but don't want to go ahead if it is possible we will end up with issues that have to be resolved on the new version.

Hi Paul,

If you can post the logs we might be able to help you out.  I was one of the "lucky" ones that found this bug before the work around was reported.  The note from Brian's blog may appy:

1.MergeHistory2010 – returns the items which “may” have a missing relationship. It’s possible for the script to generate false positives, 

so the customer should review the relationships and possibly call CSS before performing the baseless merge.
