Using Communicator - I want to create an application that will log onto the OC server with it's own profile and contacts (seperate from myself) and be able to manage (both start and answer) conversations with other users.  Is this available - I did this on a previous version of OC, but am unable to get this version to operate in a similar manner.  If so, which object model should I be using to create the communicator object and attach the endpoints and retrieve my contacts.  I have played with the automation as well, but this is not what I am lookng to use.

If you want to do this on a client desktop, then you need to look at the UCC API.  This is the API to build desktop clients for OCS.  If you want to do this as a middle tier service, usually called a "Bot", then you can use the UCMA API to build that.
