Hi,

I have a client who wishes to enforce a complex password policy that requires users to have at least one character from each of the 4 categories:

• Uppercase
• Lowercase
• Base 10 digits
• Non-alphanumeric characters

Along with other potential solutions such as 3rd party software etc. they have asked us to clarify the pros & cons of - as well as Microsoft's position on - creating a custom password filter DLL.

Unfortunately I'm having trouble locating Microsoft information/guides on the creation of such a DLL - the docs I have found are more along the lines of You can do it, and once you've done it here's how to implement it. I'm looking for the here's how to do it.

Can anyone give a steer in the right direction?
