C:\ Windows \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\
在此文件夹中,通常有autounattend.xml和unattend_cbs_copy.xml文件。

OEM

Hi,

I've worked with Windows XP Embedded and now I am trying to use the Windows 7 version for several days.

Probably I have one or more basic understanding problems.

What I´ve tried:

1. I boot the target device from DVD and then select "Build an image". On the target system I install e.g. with the template "Thin Client".

2. Now I boot the target device and configure manually one or more things which I like to have configured or installed.

2. On the Developer PC now I would like to read this bootable configuration and add things like EWF etc..
To do this I connect the target devices flash disk via USB to the Developer PC and start the Image Configuaration Editor.

Here my problem is:

How do I change the image information on the developer PC? Are the files one target system hard drive I can import?
Is there e.g. an AnswerFile somehwere on the flash disk of the target Systemes?

And, if there is an AnswerFile: How can the Image Configuration Editor copy files which only exist on the target system to his ISO, when he only got a XML-AnswerFile? The additional installed files only exist on the image of the target system...

Sorry if this should be stupid questions.

BTW: Is there a step-by-step overview of how to edit images from beginning to end (starting with "Build an image" to sysprep and imagex)?
In the Image Configuration Editor help there are many places with parts of it, but somehow I miss a complete understanding of the process :-/

Thanks in advance

Daniel

When you select packages in IBW, IBW creates an answer file in the background from your selections and uses that answer file to install your configuration. After installation is finished, this answer file (along with the IBW log files) are located at C:\Windows\Panther. In this folder, there is usually an autounattend.xml and unattend_cbs_copy.xml file. These files have the same contents, and can both be imported into ICE to use as a starting point for your real answer file.

These answer files do not contain any customizations you have made after the install. Any settings you set or applications you added will not be there.

To add and execute programs automatically during installation, look into

OEM

Folders and Synchronous Commands.

The Help topics accessible from within ICE are fairly extensive, and a pretty good starting point. There's a section on building an image, customizing images, deploying them, and maintaining them. There's also this guided course online that might be more helpful for you: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/windowsembedded/standard/dd742236.aspx
