I make lots of midi files using a number of different programs, including Sibelius and Cubase. Up  until now, I have been able to play my midi files with no problem using Sibelius, Windows Media Player and Real Player. All of a sudden, however, my lap top resolutely refuses to produce any sound when I play my midis using any of these programs and they will only play on Cubase - I need most of all for them to play on Sibelius and not being able to do so is frustrating a number of projects I am involved in.

Looking at various Microsoft sites has so far yielded only a bunch of incomprehensible gobbledygook about "the wrongs Codecs". I need someone to explain how to fix this is simple layman's terms along the lines of "click on this button" or "press that button",
