I am not trying to go out of the line here.. but I am looking to creating an office communicator client on linux.. can anyone point me on the right direction? I want to code this client in C.

You should check out the AJAX API. There are some samples on MSDN for C# and VB.Net. But you can easiliy call the same HTTP methods from C or Java in Linux.
