I have a backup (.bak) file from Production server (TFS2015 Update 3, no sharepoint) that I need to restore into a backup TFS server (also TFS2015 Update 3, no sharepoint).
The problem was similar to what reported here:

1st, I used TFSRestore and follow the wizard (with overwrite option on) to restore the backup. TFSRestore completed successfully and I got the database created in SQL Server (from SQL Management Studio). The data seemed to be there. However, I didn't see the collection created in the TFS admin console.
Thus, I create a Collection of same name from TFS admin console, stop it, and tried to map that Collection to the SQL database. The "Test" option on the Collection edit page (TFS admin console) shown success. However, when I tried to re-start the collection, it failed and I got the error TF400876: Could not find the partition for host 03F6CFAE-E06B-XXXX
I tried almost all the reported tricks involving TFSConfig (RemapDBs, Account, RegisterDB, etc.) but to no avail. The collection refused to start.
What should I do to get this database online on my backup server? Thank you in advance.

After restore tfs data, you need to attach your collection to the backup TFS server.
Have you configure backup TFS server before you execute Restore?
