If you try to detect "walang pera", you will correctly get Fil-PH. Basically, Tagalog. However, this is unsupported. If you try to translate "walang pera", you will get a Bad Request, because internally the Microsoft Translate detects it as Fil-PH then tries to translate that and fails. I'm not sure what really should happen, but this is a bit annoying.

BTW, Tagalog is usually tl. Please supporte it!

Hi Tofutim,

your observation is correct. Language detection detects more languages than Translator can translate. We didn't want to artificially make Detect() dumber. That's it. When you get that response and are using auto-detect,, you may simply pass the original to the target. It could have also been a misdetection, if this was a short string.

We chose "fil" as the language code because represents the official language of the Philippines.
