I have a bunch of handwritten objects and was trying to apply the same drop shadow to all of them.  I adjusted the drop shadow on one of them and would like to apply the same drop shadow settings to the rest of the objects.  I box select them all but now I can't add the effect.  In the past, I remember the drop shadow effect would be grayed out and you could double click it to apply it to all of them.

In ED4, I can select multiple objects by drawing a marquee around them or by selecting them with shift-click and using the Effects panel, choose drop shadow from the drop-down and apply the same shadow to them all.

If you have an item with a shadow you desire on other items that you have already created, there is not the facility to copy the effect and apply it to other items. So make note of the item with a shadow by writing down the parameters or, like I sometimes do, take a quick screen shot of the effect and flip back and forth between ED and the screen shot to replicate that particular effect on other items.
