I installed Visual Studio and did what I had to do on there but left it for future uses, but now I'm noticing my folders are trying to be opened in Visual Studio which isn't possible for the program, how would I fix this if the files themselves don't have any extensions for me to reset back to default?

What’s your VS version and could you please share the screenshot? It is better to share more detail information and that will help us analysis this issue.

If you want to disable or remove the context menu of "Open in Visual Studio", please have a look at this similar issue and move this option to the extended context menu.

Firstly, back up the registry table and open it, add a new string value under each of the following keys, with the name "Extended":

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Background\shell\AnyCode

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\AnyCode

You should then see the following contents when either of the above registry keys are selected:

Name        Type    Data

(Default)    REG_SZ    @C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\MSEnv\1033\\VSLauncherUI.dll,-1002

Extended    REG_SZ

After doing this you will only see "Open in Visual Studio" on folders/directories when you hold down shift, then right click.
