I am doing some testing with Expression Encoder 4 and have a question about the "Intelligent Encoding" It seems as though the only way I can get this to work is if I am using CBR. I have loaded a VC-1 IIS 720p CBR preset, applied it to my video and added 1 script command. After encoding if I change the script command it encoded immediately. If I do the exact same process but load a VC-1 IIS 720p VBR preset, it completely re-encodes my video.

I read this in the Library "With each encode, Expression Encoder will only compress the script command or template information." and "if you do not change any other video or audio parameter, Expression Encoder will not re-encode the entire session again in subsequent encodes"

Any help on why it appears to re-encoding each time?

Smart encoding is supported only on certain types of encodes. For instance, VC-1 QVBR and IIS VBR aren't supported.

A warning triangle on the Encode button should warn you if the file will get re-encoded or not.
