Hi,
Background: While I queue new build agent is not selected based on which one is free, but some other constrain (unknown). I can select demand that identifies a build agent and use specific agent I need. (Custom build agents)
Problem: Same should be available for Release Management. While I can build my solution on any agent I want using demands, release management is stuck on waiting for an agent it used last for this release. If another long running build is in process on this agent, I can't select another one by any means. It simply sits there waiting for this one agent to finish, while there are many open agents free to be used but not utilized.
Frustration: We are paying for multiple agents and can't utilize them, because Release Management is incapable of taking next available one, or allowing my to pick one that's not busy.
What is the work around for this problem, and when will there be a finally solution for it?
It is not reasonable to wait for hours on agent that is queued up with many builds/releases while your other payed for agents are sitting unused!

Hi Tad,
You said "We are paying for multiple agents and can't utilize them", do you use VSTS that the address like https://[account].visualstudio.com?
Regarding your issue, an agent pool can have multiple agents, switch agent queue automatically is impossible.
On the other hand, if you are using VSTS, you can by more Hosted Pipelines: Buy more pipelines for Build & Release.
