Hi.
I have a resourced task with Res-A.

In the Resource Usage view Res A's avaibility is greyed out while he is away - as expected. (All good!)
I therefore assign Res-B to cover. (Hopefully you are with me so far.)

I then try again by re-assigning remaining work to Res-B over the period Res-A is away.
Now it puts ACTUAL work in rather than remaining.

Try to replace the Res B in place of Res A  from MS Project2007/2010 dont re-assign resource on task. By replacing it will automatically assign the remaining work of assignemt to Res B only. Will keep the record of work completed by Res A as well.
