Hi,

Im new to installing Biztalk 2006. We have planned to install Biztalk 2006 on our production boxes. Initially we are trying it in the Test and Development servers(Windows 2003) and then use it in production.

My question here is,

1. Do we have to get license for the software to install it in the Development and test boxes?? If yes what is the type of license..
2. What is the type of product is suggested for Production(Standard, Enterprise, developer)

We have 2 servers with Windows 2003(for Biztalk) and 2 SQL servers with no clustering.

Please let me know the process as soon as possible.

First I want to pose a quetion to you: Why have you choosen to install BTS 2006? The current version is BTS 2009.

Answers:
1. In test and development you do not need seperat licenses for the installation, however EVERYONE that has to work with BizTalk on those perticular servers has to have a BizTalk Developers License. For further information read this: http://www.microsoft.com/biztalk/en/us/pricing-licensing.aspx
2. As always: It depends. It depends on how much you will be using BizTalk in your complany. If you want to use it to integrate two minor applications, use standard edition. It you plan on having biztalk being you service bus and integrate all sorts of applications and making it highly available, then you need the enterprise edition.
