No joy.  When I sort out how to capture logs without PCAP I shall post them.

Hotmail make it easy to sign in to your existing services and chat with 
who you want, without having to re-spam all your friends and force them 
to join yet another network.

I use hotmail as the backbone of my android phone: I do NOT use gmail on my android.  Microsoft developed activesync; google fanboi inanity amuses.  I do only use XMPP for instant text communication.  I use email for non-instant text communication.  I do not provide "social" ad serving platforms with personal- or identifying information (f*book, TWIT*, et al).  I auto-reply to sms with my JID.

Given hotmail's desire for interconnection and the ever increasing desire to see the death of sms [gouge rates] when will hotmail provide an XMPP sms transport?  Using non-gouge $0.006/out-msg rates?  To further facilitate auto-reply encouraging use of XMPP for texting.

No. As long as I know Pidgin doesn't implement the X-MESSENGER-OAUTH authentication, so, there's no way you can connect from pidgin (so far). Perhaps there is some sort of plug-in around, you would have to search for it, or implement it ;).
