I have flagged several tasks for display on my 2010 Project timeline.  I am also using filters to show particular types of tasks, but while using the Gantt + timeline view, I notice that when I filter my tasks, the timeline still shows everything originally flagged to display (even if they were filtered out).

Is the Project timeline static (where I can only flag display=yes), or is there a way to associate what I view in the Gantt chart to the timeline dynamically?  Suggestions? TIA!

The tasks shown in the Timeline view are static.  Even though you filter tasks in the Gantt Chart pane, you will continue to see them in the Timeline pane.  An alternate approach is to create additional Timeline views, each of which shows only the tasks you want to see in the view.  Refer to the following blog post for the steps needed to create additional Timeline views:
