I want to add alternate text for wingdings/symbols programmatically using openxml for MSWord. Basically, my requirement is to create a readable pdf saved as from a MS Word document which has some symbols. Currently, the symbols are created properly but when is read by Acrobat Reader, the symbols are not read by it and thus we need an alternate text which the Reader will read the text instead of the symbol.

Hi PrakashGS,

Do you want to change a wingding/symbol to an alternate text once it couldn't be read by Acrobat Readr?

I think it is impossible, open xml could only change content of the word document. Open xml and Word won’t not know if a symbol in a PDF file could be read by Acrobat Reader.

I suggest you change the windings/symbols to a format which could be recognized by Acrobat Reader after saving into PDF file.
