I have used both Expression Encoder 3 and 4 under XP Pro x64 giving it AVI files and it's been fine.  I'm now moved over to Windows 7 Pro x64 using Expression Encoder 4 Pro 4.0.1639.0 and need to use Quicktimes as sources as my primary NLE application has dropped support for AVI.

1. The first time I drag a .mov file into EE4, it either instantly crashes or crashes within 1 or 2 seconds of it saying 'Analyizing...'  Usually the former.  If I immediately re-launch EE4 and try again, it works, and continues to work all day no matter if I quit and re-launch EE multiple times... UNTIL I logout/login or reboot.  Then the first time I run it, drag a file in, CRASH.. relaunch, and it runs fine again.  It doesn't seem to matter which codec the Quicktime uses.  I've looked in the 'Compatibility' section of the EE prefs and don't really see anything odd.

If I click the Import button or try to use the Import function on the pulldown menu rather than drag-and-dropping a file in, nothing happens.  The window deactivates and re-activates quickly, but no file dialog ever opens.  Ironically I've had the exact same problem with Qt 4.6 (programming toolkit, not Quicktime) under Windows 7 64-bit.  Is Expression Encoder written in Qt?  (and as an aside, this seems fixed in Qt 4.7...)
