I am new to Access and trying to determine if it is the correct tool for my project. I have multiple contact lists that go back several years and have a lot of redundancy. What I would like to be able to do is compare the tables so the result yields unique contacts only. All tables have the same fields; name, address, phone, etc.

My previous attempt for this project was to copy all the data into one Excel sheet, sort, and then manually delete duplicates. I am wondering if this is the only way or if Access has better options than Excel. This application does not seem similar to the examples given in Access tutorials though so I'm a little lost. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

I think Access will be able to help you eliminate duplicates from your contacts list. For example, assuming "duplicate" means all fields are exactly the same, then using a UNION query would be the simplest (and fastest) way to get a list of unique contacts.

SELECT Field1，Field2，Field3 FROM Table2

UNION

SELECT Field1，Field2， Field3 FROM Table3
