Ok I''m just wondering are there any online databases out there which store sport statistics free or otherwise that anyone can connect in to to read the data? And are there any examples of how to achieve this?

Unless someone gives you (as mentioned) something like an rss feed, or exposes a Web service, it sounds like a tough question

Maybe if there os a web-site for example where the results/data you needs is displayed, you can use YQL or ''web/http scraping'' to read the website, then store the data locally on your machine
