Appreciate your help for the clarification on the below query.

I have a main (Dev) and a branch (say Branch A). We want to merge Branch A and main and create an another branch (say Branch B). After merging main and Branch A, can we maintain the same Branch A separately to work on it? If yes, please help with the steps doing it.

Yes, you can maintain "Branch A" separately and work on it.

Good practise to create another branch from ""Branch A" and start working on newly created branch.

If i consider "Dev" as parent branch then hierarchy should look like.

Dev->Branch A-> Newly crated Branch
