I've just installed EW2 on Vista Home Premium, with IIS7 confugured and the third party front page server extensions installed.  I am trying to create a web site on the web server, as I have been able to do using XP Professional w/ IIS5.1

This is what I've been experiencing:
1. Start WE2, Create New Website, specifying http://localhost/test as the website name.
2. Asks for authentication, which I provide, then creates an empty web as requested.
3. I create a simple index.html, which contains a <h2>This is a test</h2> as the body.
4. Press F12 to launch.  Page is displayed with http://localhost/test/index.html as the name in the address bar.
5. Launch IE and type the URL... Life is good!
6. Close Web Site in EW.
7. Open Site... Select (or type in) http://localhost/test
    Error returned - "Folder Name is Not Valid".  Can't get this to go away no matter what I do.

Any clues?

I've also tried using Share Point Administration to no avail, although I need to look into this further.

There is, unfortunately, very little for me to go on here.

Are you trying to hook up to SharePoint with EW? AFAIK, that is problematic, at best. I would poke into IIS and see what is going on, as it may be stuck up under the SharePoint root or the SharePoint root may be at port 80 (the default). Can you reconnect with EW after you have shut it down?

If not, ensure index.html is a default doc in IIS and try again.

Either way, I would run through IIS and see if you can find out what setting is incorrect.
