We have recently started to experience extremely long incremental crawl time (100+ hours). Normally a full crawl would take under 90 hours. I see the following error in the Event log every few minutes:

We have 2 WFEs and 2 APP servers. The crawl happens only on APP01, which shows the error above every few minutes. The crawl reports many errors - which I suspect are due to the above error:
