I'm developing an Outlook add-in for Microsoft Office. I'm having an issue now with making it possible for my add-in to track when a user presses "Send" on it's composed message.  

I'm using the Office Javascript API and from what I can tell there is no way to listen on such an event using this. I've read that "COM" add-ins, written in C#, can accomplish this and has such an event. I've opted to go with developing with the Javascript library since that makes it possible for me to develop one add-in that works in web and the desktop version of Outlook. 

What different approaches are there to solve this problem? What are the benefits / downsides with the different ones?

Would using the REST API for Outlook make sense to use? On some interval pull down the users Sent messages to see if there is anything new?

EDIT: Are there any plans to implement such an event for the Javascript API?

Any input on this would be highly appreciated!
