We recently had started facing one issue in search.

When we start crawling any content source then it is getting stuck at crawling and not doing anything. In the database the status and sub-status say crawling.

I have created a new search and it is working fine.

I wonder why the old search started failing all of a sudden. No error also in the error log.

Did you perform any change in your SharePoint environment after which the Search Service application started getting stuck?
If neither the "System" log in the Windows Event Viewer of the SharePoint servers, nor the crawl log in the Search Administration page of the SharePoint Central Administration didn't provide you with any useful information (as well as the SharePoint ULS logs, of course), it is someway difficult to find the root cause for that issue.
