it is not possible to show summary of groups
like you want in below format
Formal: 1000 Informal: 800
At top of page

you can display summary at top like this Total of Formal-Imformal : 1800 using simple summary option

you can display Formal: 1000 Informal: 800 on bottom of page using formula
