After I purchased VS 2017 professional edition, I was shocked that the MS report tools were split and became an extension. I tried to install the extension and tried to open Visual Studio after to see this error message.

I opened the XML file the message refers to but could not understand what went wrong.

Thank you for posting in MSDN forum.

Please Download SSDT for Visual Studio 2017 (15.3.0 preview)

Then close all the VS instance and run the VS setup installer to repair your VS 2017.

Reboot your machine ,run your VS in Safemode to see if everything runs properly
