Is it possilble to switch project types after the project has been created??  What I would like to be able to do is create a project in Visual Studio for a desktop app.  Import it to Blend to design the interface and then be able to publish it either as a Silverlight web app or a desktop app. 

Is that easily done??

No, there's no easy way to do that.  There is no automated WPF to Silverlight conversion.  Depending on the complexity of your project, you may be able to add the files from one project to the other and edit them to fix the incompatibilities.
